Before leaving Australia, make sure you still have access to your superannuation account. Many funds send verification codes via SMS, and if you lose your Australian phone number it can be very difficult to log back in.
Check these points before you leave:
- Make sure you can log in from outside Australia.
- Update your mobile number to an international one or ask for another verification method.
- Contact your fund to confirm how you will access your account from your home country.
If you lose access, claiming your superannuation can become much slower and more complicated.
